Sofía R. Fernández is a writer, critic and PhD student at Yale University.

Sofía R. Fernández is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at Yale, where she researches the intersection between theater and performance art and ecology, women's migration and its textual production, dance studies, translation theory, Galician studies and critical theory and philosophy. She holds a MA in Philosophy from Universidade Santiago de Compostela and is a Fulbright Alumna. She is also a literary writer and translator, moving across genres and languages. She is the author of the novel Os corpos fráxiles (Aira Editorial, 2024), and the chapbook Canícula (Laiovento, 2025), which received the third prize of the Xuventude Crea Award in 2024; and the editor and co-translator of New Galician Plays (The Segal Center Publications, 2025). In her dissertation, Nature at the Forefront, she examines the role of nature in theater plays and performance art pieces across the Americas.
