Dr. Augusto Sales is a professor and consultant, specializing in strategy, mergers and acquisitions, and governance. A scholar of social systems theory in the Niklas Luhmann tradition, his research examines complex social and organizational dynamics, exploring the interplay between strategy, entrepreneurship, and systemic transformation. His work contributes to a deeper understanding of how organizations adapt to uncertainty and institutional complexity.

Prior to academia, he was a Senior Partner at KPMG’s Global Strategy Group, leading strategic expansion across Latin America and advising corporations and governments on market entry, M&A, and organizational transformation. At FGV EBAPE, he integrates theory and practice in his teaching, fostering critical engagement with contemporary strategic challenges. His research has been published in Systems Research and Behavioral Science and Journal of Organizational Change Management, among others.

Beyond academia, he advises public institutions, serves on the Advisory Board of Rio de Janeiro, and was Chair of Kazimieras Simonavičius University in Lithuania. Passionate about social impact, he is also involved in Projeto Hub Santa Marta, fostering entrepreneurship in underserved communities. His scholarship and practice converge in exploring the systemic conditions for sustainable and adaptive organizational strategies.
