Anders Thulin is Head of the Institute of Design and Visual Interaction at the Royal Danish Academy, where he leads the academic, organisational, and strategic development of education and research within visual design and interaction. He is trained as an architect and designer, with a professional background in visual communication, brand strategy, interaction, and media.

His work is grounded in the understanding that visual experience fundamentally shapes how people perceive, interpret, and engage with the world. He approaches visual design as a mediating practice that connects people, institutions, and technologies, and that gives form to both existing conditions and emerging possibilities.

With a background in publicly governed organisations, Thulin has held senior leadership roles and led multidisciplinary design teams working on large-scale design solutions for media platforms, cultural institutions, and public services. His primary focus lies in institutional leadership, academic development, and strategic transformation within higher education and the design field.

Alongside his role at the Academy, he serves as an external examiner at leading Danish institutions, acts as a member of advisory boards, and regularly serves as a jury member in Danish and international design competitions. He also maintains an active design practice.
