Dr. Zachary Wooten is an Assistant Professor of Leadership Studies for West Chester University of Pennsylvania’s Honors College teaching ethics, leadership, and life worth living.
Rev. Dr. Zachary C. Wooten is an Assistant Professor of Leadership Studies for West Chester University of Pennsylvania’s (WCU) Honors College, an academic community connected by the shared values of leadership, service, scholarship, and civic engagement. Dr. Wooten has taught leadership studies courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and as a first-generation college student, he is passionate about mentoring and cultivating supportive learning environments. He serves as the Director of WCU’s Interfaith, Meaning-Making, and Spirituality Project which includes a Student Interfaith Action Committee, a Faculty and Staff Interfaith Advisory Board, and the Interfaith Leadership Fellowship program. His teaching, research, and other scholarly inquiry focuses on interfaith leadership, ethics and moral decision-making, grief and crisis leadership, self-awareness and development, visions of human flourishing, and leadership theory. He is currently leading three grant-funded research projects exploring: 1) religious leadership on TikTok; 2) interfaith leadership amongst hospital chaplains during the COVID-19 pandemic; and 3) the grief experiences of undergraduate students considering the climate crisis. Dr. Wooten serves on WCU's Undergraduate Research Council and the Council for Diversity, Inclusion and Academic Excellence. He is an ordained American Baptist pastor serving as an Associate Pastor at the Baptist Church of West Chester.
