Heejin Choi is an educator, writer, and researcher who designs and directs spirituality-based leadership programs at the Metaverse & Theological Extended Studies Institute. She mentors at the Entrepreneur Futures Network and is pursuing a Ph.D. in the School of Mission and Theology at Fuller Theological Seminary. Her research explores how spirituality cultivates hope, imagination, and path-finding capacities in youth, while developing curricula that enhance spiritual sensitivity, including engagement with the arts, attentive reading and writing of others' stories, music, and encounters with nature. She believes these integrated approaches are crucial in deepening spiritual awareness.
Heejin's work focuses on interdisciplinary learning and transforming educational institutions, industries, communities, and individuals. She was selected as a Faculty Fellow for the 2023 Salzburg Global Academy on Media & Global Change, focusing on 'Imagining Inclusive and Equitable Futures.' Her research and writings have been featured in various publications, including the Korea Times, Magazine Entrepreneurship & Opportunities, Shalem Korea, and the Journal of Development Communication. She authored a chapter on 'Future Cities' in "The Routledge Handbook for Sustainable Cities and Landscapes in the Pacific Rim" (2022), a UN-initiated textbook for mayors.
Before her current career, Heejin was an executive at a private research institute, developing sustainable rural and urban development strategies, and a communication specialist at various humanitarian non-profit organizations. She earned her bachelor's degree in Architecture from the College of Science in Engineering at Ewha Womans University. She then completed two master's degrees: one in Environment and Urban Studies at Seoul National University and another in International Development, focusing on digital governance at Cornell University. Beyond academia, she enjoys drawing, cooking, photography, and appreciating the serene beauty of the blue hour at dawn and dusk, capturing ethereal moments.
