Ramona I. Grad, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Counseling and Assistant Department Chair at The University of Texas at Tyler. With academic training spanning Romania and the United States, she earned her Ph.D. from Georgia State University and maintains licensure as a psychologist in Romania and as a professional counselor in Georgia, Texas, and Michigan. Dr. Grad’s 15 plus years of clinical and supervision experience encompasses work with adults across treatment facilities, college counseling centers, community agencies, and private practice.
As an educator of future mental health professionals, she emphasizes the cultivation of self-awareness and the ability to navigate complexity with nuance, helping trainees hold multiple truths simultaneously when addressing clients’ experiences. Her research explores interpersonal trauma, its impact on relationships and meaning making. Dr. Grad has secured external funding, delivered over 50 conference presentations, including keynote addresses, and contributed to interdisciplinary initiatives on integrating multicultural frameworks into training. Beyond academia, she enjoys spending time in nature, ballroom dancing, and meaningful connections with friends .
