Maria Kasmirli is a postdoctoral researcher in philosophy at the University of Crete and a teacher at the School of European Education Heraklion, Greece.
Maria Kasmirli is a philosopher and teacher. She is a postdoctoral researcher in the department of philosophy at the University of Crete, Greece, and an honorary research fellow at the University of Sheffield, UK. Her research interests are in philosophy of language, philosophy of education, and philosophy for children (P4C). Her doctoral research (conducted under the supervision of Professor Jennifer Saul) was on the Gricean approach to conversational implicature, and she continues to work in philosophy of language and communication, especially on issues relating to consent. Maria is currently working on the theory and practice of teaching philosophy to children (P4C), drawing on her extensive experience as a teacher for the European Schools organization (Schola Europaea). She believes passionately that training in philosophical skills can help young people become responsible citizens, capable of dealing with the complex demands of modern society.
