JY LEE is a doctoral student of the Department of Education Policy, Organization and Leadership at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. She has been studying about Philosophy of Education and working as an Editorial Assistant for Professor Nicholas Burbules at the Journal of Educational Theory.Originally from Seoul, South Korea, she studied moral and ethics education at Ewha Womans University. Her research focuses on philosophy of education; meaning of suffering and happiness; Existentialism; and Aesthetic Education. Her dissertation project includes work on meaning and value of experience of suffering and the relationship between suffering and education. She believes that a human being, a learner, has his/her own ability to deeply reflect on her unique experiences, values, and big questions that shape their lives. She loves watching movies and drama, reflecting on everyday experiences, and doing philosophy with the concepts such as happiness, good life, flourishing, death, love, and suffering.
