David is a PhD Candidate at Duke Graduate school majoring in the New Testament with minors in Old Testament and the Classics. His primary research focus is on the influence of Second Temple Judaism on early Christian texts. His dissertation, Knowing Nicodemus: Understanding the Role of Nicodemus in the Gospel of John, focuses on the development of distinct Jewish and Christians identities and a reinterpretation of the parting of the ways in the Gospel of John. In addition to research, David especially enjoys teaching and implementing strategies in the classroom to make content relevant and accessible to all students and their respective learning styles. His classes analyze religious and extra-religious texts through historical, literary, and multi-cultural perspectives.
