Bryndís Jóna is a doctoral student at the School of Education, University of Iceland (UI). Her teaching experiences and research interests are in the field of well-being in schools, mindfulness, compassion, social and emotional skills, resilience, and health promotion. She has led several school developmental projects in implementing mindfulness into the school curriculum, from kindergarten, compulsory schools to upper secondary school, as well as training educators to teach the material. She believes that to enhance students’ well-being the well-being of educators themselves must be attended to, giving them the opportunity to embrace well-being in their work and life.
Bryndís Jóna completed a B.Ed degree from the School of Education, UI in 1998 and MA degree in School and Carrier Counselling from the same school in 2009. She finished MA diploma in positive psychology from the Continuing Education at the UI in 2015. She has a broad training and certification in teaching mindfulness and compassion for all ages from international associations (e.g. MISP, Breathworks, Bangor University and Oxford University). She has developed Icelandic learning material, translated international curricula for mindfulness and well being and published book about mindfulness in daily life in Icelandic.
