Ameliah is a Ph.D. student focused on issues of Jewish identity in modernist literature.
Ameliah Leonhardt is a Ph.D. student in the Carolina-Duke Graduate Program in German Studies. She focuses on issues of Jewish identity in modernist literature by Yiddish and German-Jewish women writers, with a focus on how these writers navigate and integrate tradition and modernity by reviving ancient tropes for modernist aims. She received her MA at Duke University in Religious Studies and remains interested in the intersections between religion and literature.
A former high school English teacher, Ameliah still enjoys working with students in the classroom and integrating techniques that foster mutual respect and collegiality amongst students. When not teaching or researching, she enjoys reading and cooking.
