What does it mean for life to go well? What would it look like for a life to be lived well? In short, what shape would a life worth living take? This course engages with these questions through readings from philosophical figures and religious texts, from the ancient world to the present day. Close readings of these texts will form the basis for discussions on deep questions such as the necessity of belief in a higher power, the basis of moral action, our place in the world and the long span of history, and our obligations to others.
