What makes a life truly worth living?

Course Description

This course invites students to explore what it means to live a meaningful life by engaging with diverse ethical frameworks from religious traditions, including Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, as well as philosophical traditions. Through an interdisciplinary and dialogical approach, students will critically examine how different worldviews—religious and non-religious—address the question of what makes a life worth living. The course encourages students to reflect on their values while learning from the wisdom of others, fostering a deep understanding of the shared and unique elements that make a good life worth pursuing.

Course Materials

Graff, G., & Birkenstein, C. (2024). They say / I say: The moves that matter in academic writing (6th ed.). W. W. Norton.

Volf, M., Croasmun, M., & McAnnally-Linz, R. (2023). Life worth living: A guide to what matters most. Eerdmans
