Sayed Mohaqqeq is a scholar from Afghanistan with an interdisciplinary academic background spanning literature, translation, cultural studies, and social sciences. He earned his bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature and a master’s degree in Translation Studies in Tehran, followed by a master’s degree in Cultural Studies and Critical Theory in Canada. He also holds a Graduate Diploma in Gender and Social Justice from McMaster University and is currently pursuing a PhD in Social Sciences, supported by a SSHRC Doctoral Award.
Sayed Mohaqqeq has taught at Kabul University and the American University of Afghanistan and has contributed to curriculum development and academic program design in Afghanistan’s higher education sector. His research explores the intersections of religion, politics, culture, education, and identity, with a particular focus on Afghanistan and the broader region. He has presented his work at international conferences across Europe, North America, and Asia and has published on topics including education, multilingualism, religion, and oral history. In addition, he has extensive experience translating scholarly and institutional materials between English and Dari/Farsi for academic, governmental, and non-governmental organizations.
