Katie Loovis is a lifelong learner, master gardener, community college advocate, nonprofit executive, former UNC laxer, and founder of the Chapel Hill Retreat Center.

Katie Loovis’ career in public service includes leadership and management roles in business (GSK), government (The White House), and the nonprofit sector (Achieving the Dream) as well as the national and a local chamber of commerce. Currently, Loovis is the executive director of the NC Community Colleges Foundation while earning her doctorate in Community College Leadership from NC State University. In addition, she serves on the board of directors for 9/11 Day, the UNC School of Government Foundation, and the Strowd Roses Foundation. She is the former captain of the USA Under-19 (1995) and UNC NCAA Div. I Women's Lacrosse Teams (1999).
