Eduardo Folster Eli is a PhD candidate in Religious Studies at McMaster University, studying Early Judaism and the early Jesus movement. His current research focuses on the apostle Paul within the diversity of Early Judaism in the Greco-Roman world. He is also interested in issues related to identity formation, othering, and belonging. With a deep interest in how ancient texts and ideas shape, or are received by, contemporary societies, Eduardo also learns from diverse religious and philosophical perspectives.
Born and raised in Brazil, Eduardo has also lived and worked on three continents: Europe, Asia, and North America. Having spent ten years in Scandinavia (mostly in Denmark, with some years in Norway), he became fluent in Danish. This diverse international experience has fostered his love for languages and intercultural communication. In addition to his current doctoral research, Eduardo teaches classical Hebrew and enjoys spending his free time outdoors.
