Chan Sok Park is Associate Professor of Religious Studies at the College of Wooster, specializing in ancient Judaism, early Christianity, and the cultural reception history of the Bible.

Chan Sok Park is Chair and Associate Professor of Religious Studies at the College of Wooster, where he is also affiliated faculty in Classical Studies and Middle Eastern and North African Studies. Since 2021, he has additionally served as Director of the College’s Pre Ministry Program. A scholar of ancient Mediterranean religion with particular focus on ancient Judaism and Christianity, his research centers on Johannine literature, ancient Jewish and Christian meals and their afterlives, and the cultural reception history of the Bible. He is currently editing the volume Korean Lenses for Literature, Film, and Cultural Perspectives in Biblical Studies: Pachinko, Minari, and Minor Feelings (De Gruyter) and contributing essays to The Cambridge Companion to the Non Canonical Gospels (Cambridge University Press) and The Reception of the Fourth Gospel (Eerdmans).
As a dedicated educator, Park has developed and promoted best practices in liberal arts teaching and undergraduate research, supported by organizations such as the Council of Independent Colleges, the Great Lakes Colleges Association, the Society of Biblical Literature, the Wabash Center, and the Presbyterian Mission Agency of the PC(USA), as well as by his home institution. His pedagogy focused scholarship also appears in the Wabash Center Journal on Teaching’s special issue “The View from Late Antiquity” (2020).
